Just not as good as the real game , If you are ok with that, then, this game will suffice for you.

Bridge Baron 16 [OLD VERSION]

Bridge Baron 16 [OLD VERSION] Review

The game is, as expected, excellent. The sheer number of games dealt and the possibility of selecting what kind of game to play (i.e. NT, etc.) are beyond reproach.br /br /However, my rating for the ease of use is "two out of five." It seems to me that nobody even cared about usability studies--it is almost as if the user interface was an afterthought... More of a pet peeve: what is with the main screen? Who on earth found that even remotely "cool"? As a much younger bridge player, I might as well be mistaken in believing that robot-like ugly players do not inspire a good game of bridge.

Bridge Baron 16 [OLD VERSION] Feature

  • 9 new bidding conventions, including Walsh, Robinson, various Notrump Runouts, and Inverted Bergen Raises
  • 4 new Bridge Tournaments, including the 2005 Cavendish at cross-IMPs
  • 24 new Bridge Challenges have been added, totaling 192 problem deals in all
  • Improved bidding and play
  • New options for leads/signals/discards, including odd/even, Lavinthal, Smith Echo, Journalist, and 0-or-2-higher
Bridge Baron 16 is the latest version of this world-renowned bride simulator. It's a comprehensive, easy-to-use bridge game that represents 42 years of research and development in this popular game. It's the only top-ranked by the ACBL, and the Bridge Baron series has won world computer bridge championships. Enjoythe great features and gameplay that made Bridge Baron a worldwide hit. Unable to find partners, but wanting to sharpen my skills and practice, I asked friends for advice on a computerized bridge game. I am grateful that they suggested Bridge Baron. This game is terrific; good fun at a great price. br /br /I tend to play 5-10 quick hands during the day, and it's highly enjoyable. Accurate in responses and adjustable to a variety of skill levels, there are enough bells and whistles in it to make it a very efficient use of time, too. A good practice and learning tool, I recommend it to anyone looking to play more.

BB 17 loaded easily and came up with no problems. The error in BB16 where the lead came into my closed hand when I played the hand and into the dummy hand when the Baron played the hand had been fixed. I like the home page better. No complaints, really

Hoyle Card Games 2005 Review

If you love card games, Hoyle offers the best selection with characters, sounds, animations, and choices. There are tons of solitaire games also and if you start with one, play it until you win, then go on to the next, it becomes a challenge everyday. And if you love Bridge, Pinochle, Spades, Hearts, Canasta, etc., they're all there. Unfortunately, the rules for each game used to be easily accessed on Windows XP, but are not available when you move to Vista...at least not on my computer!. So...if you can't figure out what to do to play some of the Solitaires, you're out of luck.

Hoyle Card Games 2005 Feature

  • Over 15 card games
  • Tutorial Mode and In-Game Strategy and rule book
  • 10 Interactive characters
  • Facemaker feature allows you to customize your very own character
  • Adjustable skill levels so you can start as amateur and play like a pro

I loved this version of Hoyle! - Peg D. - morganton, nc
Far superior to 2010, no comparison. This is a joy to have and the characters' voices and personalities are a riot. Can play without CD so you don't always have to load it in to get smart comments. I highly recommend this version.

Great card games for one person - Doug Lynn - North Lauderdale, FL
Hi, the best computer card game I have seen, its even better than 2009 version, which I bought but don't play. Only improvement I could suggest is to add multiplayer support.

Hoyle Card Games 2008 (Jewel Case)

Hoyle Card Games 2008 (Jewel Case) Review

After a LOT of confusion and research on what version would best work with Vista, I came to the conclusion that 2008 was the way to go. (I have a 2000 edition that won't completely run on Vista). Then I came to Amazon and realized that there was a 2008 "Old Version" and "New Version".... WHAT????? I bit the bullet and found a "New Version - Jewel Case" 2008 locally and brought it home with some trepidation. IT WORKS GREAT! I also purchased the Board games 2008. I have the "New Version of 2008" loaded on my Vista Desktop and it also works on my XP netbook. Other reviews have stated that they haven't updated the players or the voices of the opponents, and I also agree that if Hoyle is going to release a new version every year without really "upgrading" the games then a "free upgrade" or a discounted upgrade for current owners would be good customer relations! The only other thing that irritates me is the fact that not all of the backgrounds/game boards/faces etc., are available for use, they have to be "purchased" with coins. I just received my Windows 7 Upgrade and am curious as to whether or not this will work with that. I have had no problems at all with this and am, for the most part, very happy with it.

Hoyle Card Games 2008 (Jewel Case) Feature

  • Create your own character with Face Creator, customizing everything from facial features to clothes
  • Interactive computer opponents with multiple skill levels to challenge everybody
  • Play together on the same computer and challenge your friends and family for bragging rights or play solo with 55 different solitaire games

Believe the poor reviews about the newer versions - Trinity - CO USA
Since 50 passed me by, I've gotten quite particular. I read the reviews on the newer versions wanting one that would work with my new Win7 pro 64 bit system. I even tried the '09 version and didn't like it for the same reasons others gave.br /br /I love this 2008 version. My Pretty Good Solitaire games I've played for years aren't working out visually for me on this system with a new widescreen monitor, so I needed something I would enjoy playing. While it isn't Pretty Good Solitaire, I have to say at least I'm having fun with this 2008 version of Hoyle. It's everything others have said about it. If you like to play card games to relax as I do and you're worried about Win7 etc....get this one.br /br /Kudos to Amazon for carrying it and at a price where I got free shipping when I included it with some DVDs in the purchase.br /br /while I don't like how some of the games play compared to what I'm used to, I still give it a 5 stars.

Disappointing And With A Program Bug - Melcon - San Diego, CA
This product is not for anyone who feels they play well, or who wants to learn to play Hold 'Em poker well. Please consider the following in-game actions...br /br /1. On the Button and pre-flop, player lays down AA to a raise and a re-raise. Oh, really? Pre-flop? Which raise was it that represents a better pre-flop hand than AA? Is AA pre-flop not worth a third bet, or at least a call?br /2. On the Button, player lays down 77 with no prior action. Same comment.br /3. Big Blind with 42o cold calls a bet large raise...flop comes 424. Oh, I get it. I know the game has to whittle down the number of players, but a little more subtlety would go a long way.br /br /Want more? I got 'em...as they say...in spades, and examples as ludicrous or more, as the three above. This product is very unrealistic, bordering on the ridiculous.br /br /Now, the program bug. In the middle of a hand, the program forces you into a bet, check or all in...fold is not an option (the FOLD button goes gray), nor can you enter a numerical bet in the window reserved for same. The window becomes frozen with whatever number is in it at the time the flop was exposed.br /br /Anyway, I would not recommend this product to anyone who, as I said, is looking for a purer approach to practicing No-limit Hold 'Em. Most of the real fun associated with this game is to try and figure out what kind of poker player(s) were behind the thinking. I understand tight, but folding top two pair to a raise with no pair, straight or flush showing on the board...Ouch!! So, if you simply want to pass some time away ...br /

Mostly good, but I'd buy Chessmaster 9 or 10 for stability - Kai Kay - Dayton, OH
I bought this and it's a pretty darn strong chess program. Has lots of useful features and good master games to play through. Some good teaching components in it as well.br /Weaknesses: when you start the game there is a quiz of what's the best move or how to checkmate and it's OFTEN completely wrong! (E.g., sometimes it says checkmate in 2 moves and it's showing the opening setup.) No biggie, tho'. I just clicked thru to the game mode. The worst thing (remedied in CM9 and CM10--I own all 3) is that when you're accessing the pull-down menus and you mouse across horizontally the program freezes almost every time. br /If you're careful and don't do this move you're fine. Another annoyance: you have to have the disk IN the drive when you play (also unfortunately true for CM9 and CM10--bad move for them). One more small annoyance: there's a plethora of boards and game pieces and little focus on the 5 most likely to appeal to players. I mean, does ANYONE really play chess using these bizarre star wars-ish pieces??? Just give me lots of nice Staunton and similar pieces and have done w/ it. br /But CM9 and CM10 are both great w/ surprisingly excellent play and tutorials across a variety of levels. Don't own CM11 yet.
